День у старшій школі Hersby став справжнім джерелом натхнення та живого професійного діалогу.
Під час зустрічі ми мали можливість ознайомитися з освітнім середовищем, відвідавши уроки, де учень — активний учасник процесу, а вчитель — наставник і мотиватор. Відвідування уроків дало можливість не лише побачити сучасні підходи до навчання, а й відчути атмосферу довіри, взаємоповаги та партнерства між учителем і учнями. Під час уроку Social Science побачити, як учні аналізують суспільні процеси та формують власну думку, переконались, що навчання базується на реальних життєвих ситуаціях і критичному мисленні. Саме в цих розмовах відчувається справжній пульс освіти – коли учень є активним учасником процесу, а не лише слухачем.
Особливо цінним стало спілкування з учнями. Відкриті, щирі, зацікавлені, вмотивовані вони охоче ділилися своїми думками, досвідом навчання, баченням школи та свого майбутнього.
Не менш важливим було спілкування з колегами. Обмін ідеями, підходами, викликами та знахідками створив відчуття єдності й спільної мети. Попри різні освітні системи, нас об’єднує головне – прагнення зробити навчання змістовним, сучасним і цінним для кожної дитини. Вразила атмосфера відкритості: сучасні підходи до навчання, використання цифрових технологій, орієнтація на потреби кожної дитини.
Особливого звучання зустрічі надала екскурсія гімназією від Бориса – учня з України, який змушений через повномасштабне вторгнення продовжувати навчання за кордоном. Він ділився з нами особливостями навчання в шведській школі. Ми побувати в лабораторії біології, де учні досліджували будову легень по біологічних матеріалах. Вразив наповнений різними інструментами клас музики, спортзал, де займаються не тільки спортом, а й танцями на вибір.
Такі візити нагадують: освіта не має кордонів, а спільні цінності — якісне навчання, підтримка учнів і розвиток особистості — об’єднують нас незалежно від країни.
The day at Hersby Upper Secondary School became a source of inspiration and meaningful professional dialogue, centered on democratic values, respect for the individual, and the development of critical thinking.
During the visit, we explored the learning environment by attending classes where students are active participants in the educational process, and teachers act as mentors, facilitators, and partners. This approach reinforces the principles of equality, mutual respect, and shared responsibility—key foundations of democratic education.
Observing the lessons allowed us not only to see modern teaching practices in action but also to experience an atmosphere of trust and open dialogue. Particularly illustrative was the Social Science lesson, where students analyzed social processes, worked with diverse sources of information, articulated their own positions, and learned to respect different viewpoints. This is how critical thinking is developed—through questioning, discussion, reflection, and connecting learning to real-life contexts. In such moments, one can truly feel the pulse of modern education—when students are active agents rather than passive recipients of knowledge.
Communication with students was especially valuable. Open, sincere, and motivated, they demonstrated the ability to think independently, make responsible choices, and express active civic engagement—key competencies of a democratic society.
Equally important was the exchange with colleagues. Sharing experiences, approaches, challenges, and ideas highlighted that, despite differences in educational systems, we are united by a common goal: to create a learning environment where every child has a voice, feels supported, and can realize their potential. We were particularly impressed by the openness to innovation, the use of digital technologies, and the focus on individual learning pathways.
A special dimension was added to the visit by a school tour led by Borys, a student from Ukraine who, due to the full-scale invasion, continues his education abroad. His story served as a powerful reminder of the importance of access to education as a fundamental right and a core democratic value. During the tour, we visited a biology laboratory where students studied the structure of lungs, a well-equipped music classroom, and a sports space that supports holistic student development.
Such visits reaffirm that education is a space for fostering democratic values, critical thinking, and responsible citizenship. It knows no borders, as shared priorities—quality education, respect for the individual, and the development of each child’s potential—unite us regardless of country.
